AuburnPub.com - Pilot Was Trying to Stow Gun That Fired: "A US Airways pilot whose gun fired inside a cockpit said he was trying to stow the weapon as the crew got ready to land, according to a police report obtained Wednesday."
Yep, he was handling the firearm while in the air. Stupid mistake. He should have waited until the plane was on the ground and stationary before he handled the weapon. Now, the next question is whether or not he was following airline policy when he was stowing the gun just before landing.
