Cowards!

Take a moment and ask yourself something - would I stand up for what I believe in? The vast majority of America would answer "yes" and do so. Even those folks on the other side of the debate from those of us who stand for self-defense are at least fighting for what they believe in (or claim to believe in).

However, when you look at the Democratic candidates for President you'll see two cowards who are afraid to tell people what they really think. They know that if they openly stand for gun control they'll get slaughtered at the polls. Instead, they argue for "common sense" laws that are neither common nor sensible.

What's interesting is that with all of the school shootings going on, with an election year upon us, and with two Democrats fighting tooth and nail for the nomination the press really isn't catching onto the issue. The Seattle Post Intelligencer today ran a piece slapping them around a bit on the issue but the reality is they know their favorite candidates are not going to survive if they go after the Second Amendment.

Seems that the cowards are not only in the Democratic party - they're also in the newsrooms of America. Neither group is willing to stand for what's right. Instead, they'll only stand for what gets them power.

As the Liberty Papers points out, it's a dangerous precedent when politicians use double-speak to get votes and the people are too complacent to reject them.

Alright, let's make them put up or shut up

Sky news quotes the Dumocrats who are fighting it out for the presidential nomination:

'Before I begin I want to say a few words about the tragedy that occurred recently.... I've said before and I continue to believe that doing a more effective job of enforcing our gun laws is essential,' Obama said as he addressed supporters and the media.

'There is an individual right to bear arms, but it's subject to commonsense regulation. Just like most of our rights are subject to commonsense regulation,' he added.
and...
'We just have to figure out how we are going to get smart about protecting our kids,' said Clinton.
Now there's no real doubt what these two are really saying. If they could get outright gun bans tomorrow they would do it, but as Sky News points out even making a statement like that is political suicide.

So, I got to thinking. Maybe we should start a campaign for common sense answers to basic questions. When a politician says, "common sense" we need to pipe-up and start asking them exactly what they mean by "common sense". We want specifics.

Is "common sense" banning all handguns? Is "common sense" requiring all guns to be permitted? Is "common sense" limiting how many guns a person can buy in a specific amount of time?

Or, how about this, "common sense" says that we never should have closed all of the state mental hospitals in the 70's and released all of those mental patients back onto the streets. Maybe "common sense" is not allowing a psychologically disturbed person to go around unsupervised?

You know, what we really need is some "common sense" journalism where reporters ask politicians what they mean when they spout their propoganda.

Then again, like grandaddy used to say, "Common sense aint."

Hillary, Obama, and Edwards on Gun Control

Tim Russert asked the three leading Dems about gun control last night. Alpheca has the specifics. Short version? They're a bunch of weasels.

Nepotism is best kept in the family

I typically try to stay away from general politics, but CNN and their viewers just proved how stupid they can be and sometimes it's worth the time to point out who's feeding the garbage to America.

A day or two ago CNN ran a story talking about the possibility that Hillary might appoint Bill to the Supreme Court if she became President.

(I know, I know, try not to throw up all over my pretty blog)

So, today I notice that they have a poll on the front page of their site asking, "Would Bill Clinton make a good Supreme Court justice?"

So far, 101,864 site visitors said, "Yes".

....

........

(wait for it)

...........

WHAT the hell is wrong with you people?!?!?!

41% of the viewers of CNN think Slick Willy would be a good Supreme Court Justice? Worse, what was CNN doing running the story anyway? Half the story was about how the guy's ego was so large that there was no chance that he would work in the quiet offices of the Supreme Court.

Worse (yes, it can get worse), there was not a single mention in the article about the guy being disbarred. You know, thrown out of the Arkansas legal community, for being a lying bastard - in court. Had he not agreed to the disbarment the Whitewater prosecutors would have tried him for perjury! We all remember that don't we?

And let's not forget that the Supreme Court suspended his ass and he resigned the Supreme Court bar just so that they wouldn't disbar him too. You know, the Supreme Court, the place the article says Hillary might put her husband?

Apparently CNN didn't think that any of that would be relevant in a discussion about who a potential President might appoint to the Court. It just wasn't cute enough.

I really hate the main stream media...
