Caught by an armed Preacher

Fire, brimstone, and a pistol.

Released prisoner arrested for carjacking in jail parking lot - WPTV NewsChannel 5

"A clergyman for Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office saw the incident and ran to help.

The Reverend put his firearm to his side and told Singleton to get on the ground. A deputy came to assist and handcuffed Singleton."

You've got to read the story. The guy is definitely in the run for most stupid criminal of the year....

Pipes, plastic spoons, styrofoam cups, and plastic bags

Ban weapons and everyone's safe? Nope, because criminals can always make more...and they don't care about the law.

Think the police will protect you? Nope, because they can't even protect people they're standing right next to.

Oh, and let's not forget that these scenes from prisons are showing people that politicians say we should treat more humanely by letting them out on the streets...

Some of these scenes are graphic - once again, they're reality. These criminals and their like are on the streets today. They don't care about you. They don't care if they kill you. They care about themselves and their rules. When they're on drugs they can be twice as bad as what you see here. Make sure you check the last video with the "low risk" prisoners...

Want to explain to me again why you think banning weapons and guns is going to make the world safer? These criminals were in environments with absolute controls on weapons - people still died.

Criminals understand that in this world you need weapons to survive. Why don't you?

Only the police?

Here's something to ponder from Jamaica:

The court was told that about 10 pm on June 10, 2006, the three men, who were then based at the Freeport Police Station, beat and robbed a 10-year-old boy at gun point along Barnett Street, Montego Bay.
Nice. So only the police and military should have guns right?

Are Anti-Gun Mayors Violating Copyright?

So I was going through my daily rounds (after taking on the latest troll candidate) when I found a new "story" on the site for Mayors Against Illegal Guns.

Here's the thing. That story is identical in every way to the original story at the Miami Herald except that it omits the last 2.5 lines.

Now they show their copyright at the bottom of the page (it even has 2008), but there's nothing there that says "used by permission".

So now we have to ask, are these mayors populating their site with stories from other sites in violation of copyright? If so, why are they being allowed to get away with it? Can you imagine what would happen if the NRA tried to pull a stunt like that?

San Francisco D.A. vows to fight 2nd Amendment

San Francisco's District Attorney has "won" the election after running unopposed and the first thing to come out of her mouth is a vow to fight against the second amendment. *collective gasp of sarcastic surprise*

"Over the last four years, 284 of the homicides in San Francisco - nearly 80 percent - were committed with a gun," Harris said. "So we are working with D.A.s around the country, drawing a line in the sand on the issue of illegal guns."

Harris said the district attorneys hope to make it clear to the Supreme Court that they oppose any interpretation of the law that would erode their ability to prosecute gun crimes.
And we all know what that means in the city by the bay - they want an outright ban so all guns are illegal.

That's not all though.
Harris said it's time to get past the labels of "soft on crime" or "tough on crime." Instead, she said, the criminal justice system needs to be "smart on crime."
Ooooh, okay. What's that mean? Let's ask the local police department.
Police investigators have said she is slow to prosecute homicides and uses lenient plea agreements to raise her conviction rate. Hard feelings remain among the police for Harris' refusal to seek the death penalty for the killer of Officer Isaac Espinoza.
Oh...now we get it. Go after the guns, but let the killers go free with a slap on the wrist. That's smart! Well, I guess I have one thing to say to the newly reelected D.A....

Now we know why your freaking city is overrun by crime Kamala!!!!

Can you believe that she ran unopposed because the people of San Francisco actually like this idiot's policies?

Riddle Me This

A woman is home alone. She hears noises outside her house and then someone trying to kick in her back door. Three weeks ago her house had been burglarized and she's terrified. The phone line is cut, but she has a cell phone and calls police.

Now, here's the riddle. Come up with one good reason why she shouldn't have a handgun. You can't come up with one. Can you? Fortunately, neither could she.

She grabs her handgun and goes to the back door.

"I grabbed my handgun and I proceeded right to the back, because as soon as I saw a shadow, I was going to go ahead and start shooting," she said.
By the way, this isn't a hypothetical. It happened in Dallas Sunday night. That picture above is a portrait of one of the four SOB's who tried to break in while he was cutting the phone line. Fortunately, Carrie Shannon's back door held in its frame and the criminals ran when they couldn't kick it in.
"I hope you go to jail," she said of the suspects. "You need to leave people alone."
Yep. Or some little lady is going to cap your asses.

Chicago-Style Execution

Alpheca has pointed out that Chicago is now working to drive out all guns from the city/county limits. Their newly proposed laws are nefariously attempting to undercut any possible way of owning a gun. Of course, it's all just part of their "gun safety" program.

What really pisses me off is that I went looking for crime statistics for Chicago. I have a sneaking feeling that crime keeps rising as they keeping banning honest citizens from defending themselves. What did I find? Well, it appears that Illinois just doesn't like to tell its citizens how likely they are to be shot, stabbed, beaten, or otherwise mutilated by criminals. Take a look for yourself.

Population: 2,857,796

28.6

Murder and Nonnegligent Manslaughter Rate: 16 per 100,000 (about 458 in 2006)
Forcible Rape Rate: 0 per 100,000
Robbery Rate: 555 per 100,000 (about 15,873 in 2006)
Aggravated Assault Rate: 610 per 100,000 (about 17,446 in 2006)
Vilent Crime Rate: 0 per 100,000
Murder Rate: 16.4 per 100,000 (about 470 in 2006)
You see those bold lines where it shows 0 rapes and 0 vilent crime? That's because Illinois refuses to report this to the FBI. Now, why would they do that? Well, let's take a WAG and say that maybe Chicago is close to Toledo Ohio (which has a comparable aggravated assault rate).

That would mean about 1,516 forcible rapes a year and 31,260 violent crimes were committed in Chicago in 2006.

I think I'm starting to understand why Chicago doesn't want their citizens to know what's going on. If they did, they'd be scared spitless. 67,023 violent crimes in a single year. That's one violent crime commited for every 42 citizens of the windy city. That doesn't include burglary, larceny-theft, motoro vehicle theft, property crime, and arson. That adds another 260,289 crimes a year! That means there's about 1 crime for every 8 people in Chicago.

You could argue that my WAG above throws off the numbers, but remember that these are only the reported crimes.

You suppose that if those numbers were publicized in the Chicago Tribune the people might have a different view of gun control laws in Chicago? Maybe they'd stop depending on Chicago P.D. and their idiotic government and start taking responsibility for themselves.

Hmm...

Now here's an interesting little experiment. Start by doing a Google news search for the word "shot" in the last 24 hours. You'll find a plethora of crimes. Sounds like evidence for the Brady Bunch, right? Just a second. Go back and do a search for the word "stabbed". Notice anything?

In the word search for "shot" most of the stories come from the United States where there's free gun ownership and a strong push by the media to report crimes committed with guns. In the search for "stabbed" most of the stories come from countries with stringent gun control and a strong push by the media to report crimes committed with knives (particularly the UK which is now talking about "knife crime").

Conclusions? Well, first it's pretty clear that where there are guns there will be crimes committed with guns. No surprise there. It's also pretty clear that where there are knives there will be knife crime. Still no surprise. Heck, where there are rocks there are crimes committed with rocks. People will always use the most efficient tool at their disposal to do evil things.

Second, and the key point here, where there are people there will be violent crimes committed by people. The press will never deal with this issue because a society can't "fix" people. All it can do is hold them accountable for their actions. What's worse is that the press have decided that people are broken because of a bad upbringing or a traumatic experience in life and not because they choose to do evil things. This leaves the press with no way to confront crime except to blame the instruments of crime. For them it's no longer the bad guy who shot or stabbed someone, it's the gun or knife that gave them the opportunity to shoot or stab someone.

People like the Brady Bunch have bought the press' story hook, line, and sinker.

The real question is not how to remove the implements of violence, but how to keep violent criminals from hurting the innocent. Police can't (or won't do it). Society can't legislate it. The only option left is to allow the law-abiding citizen the right to carry a weapon equal to or greater than that which an assailant might use. In other words, recognize their right to self-defense.

And lest you think this is all a pipe-dream and that "gun crime" is the real issue in the United States take a look at this chart from the FBI.

Notice how many "knife crimes" there were in 2006? How about non-weapon crimes? So ask yourself, why is it you only hear about "gun crime"? There's a word for it: bias.

Fugitive on the loose

You know how people keep saying that only police should have guns? What happens when they have an inmate escape who steals the guard's gun? What happens when he tries to carjack somebody's vehicle? He shoots them in the head (which the Bradys will probably count as a "gun crime"), takes the car, and gets away. And now an armed fellon is on the loose in Maryland.

So here's the issue. If only the cops should have guns then what happens when this guy (or somebody like him) kicks in your front door while in posession of a cops gun?

Here's my favorite part. You see there are a lot of laws on the books to stop him from doing this. In Maryland the law says he can't be in possession of a gun because he's a convicted felon (serving life +40) and he's a fugitive from justice. It's also likely that he's probably prohibited by law from possessing a gun due to other statutes (like using drugs).

He's also prohibited from driving around with the gun: "It is unlawful for any person without a permit to wear or carry a handgun, openly or concealed, upon or about his person, or to knowingly transport a handgun in any vehicle traveling on public roads, highways, waterways or airways or upon roads or parking lots generally used by the public."

So, once informed of these laws he's going to smack himself in the head, say "Oh golly! I don't want to break the law!" and put down the pistol he stole from the cop. Right?

So if any of you gun-grabbing folks up in Maryland happen to see Kelvin Poke, 45, driving around in a stolen car with a few blood splatters in it you should tell him about the laws of the Old Line State and help keep violent crime under control. And if he should make it over to New Jersey you make sure he fills out the proper paperwork so he can be a licensed owner of a handgun and can carry it legally.

Here's hoping that he tries to break into a house where the owner knows how to use a shotgun...

Ya, Man!

In Jamaica they are experiencing large numbers of murders and crime to the point that the island could be justly called "out of control". One citizen has written to the Jamaica Gleaner newspaper asking for a reasonable response from the politicians - self defense.

With the Jamaican society witnessing an average of 1,500 murders over the last several years, I think that the time has come for the gun laws to be changed very urgently for law-abiding citizens to be able to own guns very easily.

It is very ironic that the outlaws and criminals can gain such easy access to guns, while the decent citizens are left to the mercy of those hoodlums and the state's bureaucracy from owning firearms.

No laws have stopped the criminals from getting guns into the country and nothing has stopped them from using them illegally to maim or kill thousands of our citizens.
He makes a number of other good points as well and I'd recommend you read his entire letter. However, before you do, read this little tidbit from the Prime Minister Bruce Golding's "New year's message".
But the greatest problem we faced in 2007, as we did the year before and for years before that, was the high crime rate - the violence and the killings that have made so many of our people frightened, scared and angry. These are the problems that tested us in 2007. They are the challenges that confront us in 2008.
So what does he offer to the people to deal with the issue?
And as we begin the new year, as we prepare ourselves to face these challenges, I call on all Jamaicans of goodwill who love their country and who share my belief that we can overcome these challenges, that we have it within us to make Jamaica the best country on the planet Earth - I call on all of you to unite, to join hands, to resolve to play your part in making 2008 a year of triumph over adversity, a year of victory despite the whirlwind of uncertainty, a year in which our people will enjoy a better life.
Anybody else hearing hippies singing "We love the world"? Join hands?!?! How is that going to stop the guy with the machete from cleaving your brisket or the guy with the 9mm from puncturing your right ventricle?

The reality, though, is not that the people are going to stop the crime rate by singing love songs So, the real answer from the Prime Minister's office is something entirely different - a police state. As AP reports:
Jamaican soldiers will join police on patrols on the Caribbean island in a new strategy to fight rising violence, the prime minister said....

"We are going to use every resource to deal with this monster," Prime Minister Bruce Golding told a news conference late Wednesday.

Soldiers have been mobilized in the past to help quell violence on a temporary basis, but Golding said he would assign troops to crime patrols as a long-term strategy.
Great. Apparently "every resource" does not include arming law-abiding citizens against the rampaging gangs. Instead you call out the military to start patrolling the streets and impose martial law (but he won't call it martial law since that sounds mean).

With a population of 2,780,132 they had 1,430 murders in 2007 - 60 in the last week alone. (Hold it a sec... I need to revise one of those numbers.... 2,780,131..... 2,780,130..... 2,780,129.... 2,780,128....)

Mr. Prime Minister, how many is it going to take for you to realize that self defense is a civil right? Your island used to be known for the beautiful blue waters, now they're taking on a slightly different hue...

How many?

I'm sick of hearing how many times guns are used in violent crimes where the implication is that guns cause violent crimes and if all the guns disappeared so would the vast majority of crime. So, what are the real numbers? Well, for 2006 the FBI reports that guns are used in only 8.8% of violent crimes. Also, notice that guns are used less than the other weapons (knives and "other"). Here's the chart straight from the Fed's report:

Now, this chart doesn't tell the whole story. It doesn't tell how many times law-abiding citizens used guns for self defense and thereby stopped a violent crime.

In addition, the anti-gun crowd says that if we take guns off the streets then "gun crime will decrease". Nope. There is no solid statistical evidence to prove that gun laws decrease gun crime since criminals already ignore the law. This despite the duplicitous tactics of some.

Finally, even if gun laws did decrease gun crime that does not mean that overall crime rates will fall - as Great Britain is finding out right now with their skyrocketing "knife crime" rates.

Take another look at that chart. 3.8 million people were attacked when no weapon was used amounting for 67% of all attacks. That means that 3.8 million times in 2006 someone thought that they were physically capable of hurting another person that they perceived as weaker and unarmed. 3.8 million time they thought they could just beat the hell out of someone with their bare hands - and what's worse is that they were often right because they preyed on the old, the women, and the weak.

You want to talk about heartless? You want to talk about a nation bathed in blood? Fine. Let's talk about it. Let's talk about how many of those 3.8 million crimes could have been avoided or stopped had the victims been armed. Let's talk about those 3.8 million people.

How many women would not have been raped? How many wives would not have been beaten to a pulp? How many? Come on, you gun control nuts want to talk statistics, how many? How many old men wouldn't have been crippled? How many fathers would have gone home to their children? How many? How many children would have been defended (or been able to defend themselves)? How many financially poor store clerks would be alive after working their graveyard shifts? How many? How many old women would have been able to fight off the thugs that broke into their homes in the middle of the night? How many car jacking victims would have been spared a trip to the hospital? How many?!?!

You can't answer that question can you? What's worse, is that you don't care. Until you start to care and do something about those other 3.8 million people don't tell them that they can't have a .38 in their pocket to protect themselves. Don't tell them that they have to keep their shotgun locked in a closet with the ammo on the other side of the house while their city is under siege. And don't try quoting statistics when your balance sheet leaves 3.8 million people hanging in the wind.

San Francisco - Another Abysmal Failure

On August 5th, 2007 San Francisco proudly proclaimed that they had enacted the toughest gun control laws in the nation. As KPIX reported:

SF Leads Nation With Toughest Gun Control Law

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS 5 / AP) ― A new San Francisco city law now requires all guns in homes to have a trigger lock or to be stored in a locked container.

Mayor Gavin Newsom signed the measure into law this past week. It also prohibits the sale or possession of firearms on city property and requires the city's six licensed gun dealers to submit their inventory to the police chief every six months, according to Newsom's office.
City Mayor Gavin Newsom (yes, that Gavin Nesom - the one more concerned about his hair than doing his job) proclaimed in May as he introduced the new laws:
"Enough is enough. We need common sense gun control."
But that's not all. District Attorney Kamala Harris made it clear who they were targeting:
"Just because you legally possess a gun in the sanctity of your locked home doesn't mean that we're not going to walk into that home and check to see if you're being responsible and safe in the way that you conduct your affairs," Harris said.

....Even though criminals already don't follow the law, city leaders believe any gun crackdown makes the city safer.

"It's just time and it's the right thing to do," said Harris, citing existing laws in Alameda and Los Angeles counties that are similar to the proposed ones for San Francisco.
So, how's it working out? Well, KFMB channel 8 over in San Diego (a CBS affiliate) has this little December 18, 2007 AP headline:
"San Francisco Murder Rate At Highest Level In More Than A Decade"
What was Newsom's response? There hasn't been one. Apparently he was too focused on his latest big project - the first ever city carbon offset program. Seems he's trying to save the world while his constituents bleed out in the streets.

So, San Francisco, when are you going to ask Gavin and Kamala why it is they violated the 2nd and 4th amendment and people are still being killed at a record pace? How exactly did the "gun crackdown" make the city safer? And, undoubtedly, what new hair-brained gun-control laws are they going to enact next to fight the slaughter?

Then again, maybe they're more worried about their public image after one of the kitties at their zoo mauled a couple of people...

Meanwhile, the D.A. is walking into homes unlawfully, law-abiding citizens are being stripped of their rights, they refuse to use the death penalty, and people are being murdered at record rates. It's wonderful to go to her website and read about how she's "smart on crime".

Since her election in 2003, Kamala Harris has proved herself to be a District Attorney who not only stands her ground, but breaks new ground in the fight to fix our failing system of criminal justice.

Her pledge is to move beyond the false choice of being "tough" or "weak" on crime. Kamala Harris is smart on crime...and it's working. She's put more violent and serious felons in state prison, cracked down on gang and gun violence, and protected neighborhoods from drug dealers and quality of life crimes.

At the same time, she's safeguarded medical marijuana, reached out to keep youth away from violence, and pioneered innovative programs to help men and women released from state prison get back on track.

Oooookaaaaaaay...........then why are people croaking faster now than they have been for a decade? Doesn't seem so smart now does it?
